12"x16" Endangered Species Art Print: West Indian Manatee

Made by Giclee Today

Endangered Species Coalition 2019 art contest semifinalist. Drawn by Grace Ou in the grade 6-8 category.

This drawing is of the West Indian Manatee. Due to their eating habits, manatees are nicknamed “sea cows” because they eat seagrasses and other aquatic plants. Manatees are protected under the Endangered Species Act and under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

The manatee has no natural enemies … except for humans. Manatees get injured by propellers and through watercraft collisions, drowned in canal locks and are harmed when they eat fish hooks, litter and lines. Also, a big threat to the manatee is habitat loss due to red tides, algae blooms and pollution.

  • This print is on an archival paper for beautiful long lasting prints with exceptional color reproduction (Bright white, 100% cotton, slightly textured)
  • This print is 12" by 16" with a white border around the image
